ST. CROIX — The Senate Rules and Judiciary Committee continued its discussion of outdated laws hampering government operations during the second session of the inaugural “Legislative Symposium” on Monday.

Lawmakers heard dozens of proposed revisions across several hours of testimony and discussion, after which the Committee entered a two-hour “huddle” to discuss next steps. Sen. Diane Capehart, who chairs the committee, said that discussion focused on revisions to Title 5 of the V.I. Code — which covers judicial procedure — because most of the proposed amendments fell under that particular Title.
The first-of-its-kind symposium kicked off last week and is meant to provide government agencies and private individuals with a platform to address outdated or arcane sections of the Virgin Islands Code.
