Law Makers participate in 2021 Seatrade Cruise Global Conference: some in person, some virtually
US Virgin Islands – The members of the 34th Legislature o f the United States Virgin Islands took time away from the chambers to participate in the 2021 Seatrade Cruise Global conference. While all lawmakers did not physically travel to the Miami Beach Convention, the doors to the conference opened on Monday, September 27, 2021, and closed its doors on Thursday, September 30, 2021. Whether in person or virtually all conference attendees were able to fully participate on the myriad of topics that may peak one’s interest. A new twist for this year’s conference due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and innovative thinking the conference organizers developed a virtual event experience that provided extensive access and inclusivity no matter where you are in the world. This new feature might encourage lawmakers to remain in the territory and assist in protecting government resources by reducing this expenditure from their future budgets.

Very rarely do freshman senators do not take advantage of this experience by attending the conference in person. But with all that the territory is facing some decided to remain in the territory while others went. “At this time for me it was not a choice for me to get a large commercial international flight to Miami, Florida at his time with all at stake,” Senator Alma Francis Heyliger stated. She was one of the senators that remained and was not certain of all who traveled or did not travel.
From the start of the conference Francis Heyliger was able to participate in all the subject matters that she wanted to pay special attention. “There were so many great topics that it was clear that even if I was physically there I would have to rely on gathering conference information by other means,” Francis Heyliger expressed with enthusiasm.
With a background in Information Technology, she naturally gravitated to these conference subject matter:
IT Operations- The Evolution of IT Shipboard Operations
Ransomware and Maritime Cyber Security in the Post-Pandemic World
The Future of Operational Efficiency
Navigating Disruption _ A Look Around the Corner
Caribbean Spotlight: A Focus on the Future
Port Agreements in a Covid World
The Impact of the Pandemic on the Global Cruise Market
The Future of Port Infrastructure
Reactions to the Restart
The Changing Dynamics of Shore Excursions
Revolutionizing the Guest Experience

It was clear that this year’s conference had a lot to offer all its attendees. The great new twist is that you can choose to be there in person or attend virtually.
