Ministry condemns student attack on ESHS teacher
The Education Ministry has broken its silence following the recent assault of a female teacher by a male student at Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS), affirming a zero-tolerance stance on violent behaviour in schools.

The incident, which occurred in a hallway on the school’s campus, reportedly involved the student punching the teacher in her upper body after being verbally cautioned for inappropriate conduct. The altercation was caught on CCTV and is under active police investigation.
In a formal letter dated May 9, Chief Education Officer Orlandette Crabbe stated that the Ministry “maintains a Zero Tolerance Policy for Serious and Extreme Misconduct, which includes any acts of violence, threats, or other disruptive behaviours that endanger the safety and well-being of students, teachers, or staff.”
The student involved is said to have mental health challenges and had reportedly missed a treatment appointment. Authorities are assessing his mental state to determine whether he is fit to be interviewed by police and potentially face charges.
Crabbe acknowledged the broader emotional impact of such incidents. “We recognise that incidents of this nature can have a profound impact on the emotional and psychological well-being of teachers, students, and the wider school community,” she wrote.
