Saharan Dust expected to continue impacting VI until Thursday- DDM

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Due to the presence of a large plume of Saharan Dust, the air quality in the Virgin Islands is at moderate levels but could reach unhealthy levels, the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has advised.

According to DDM, these effects are expected to impact the territory until Thursday of this week.

“For this period, residents are being asked to exercise extreme caution as excess exposure to the dust can result in adverse health conditions,” DDM stated.

Risks, symptoms & precautions

At-risk persons include the elderly, children, people with underlying lung conditions, and people with chronic cardiopulmonary diseases.
