U.S. Attorney Announces $823,616 Award to USVI to Address Crime Victim Services

U.S. Attorney Gretchen C.F. Shappert announced Thursday that the U.S. Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission has received a $823,616 grant from the Department of Justice in support of crime victim assistance programs.

According to the release, the award from the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) supports the critical work of the U.S. Virgin Islands Law Enforcement Planning Commission’s efforts to enhance services to victims of crime in the Territory.

“The Law Enforcement Planning Commission provides victims of crime assistance funds to nonprofit victim services and government agencies in the U.S. Virgin Islands,” Shappert said. “These funds support direct services to assist crime victims in their recovery from victimization.”

The award is one of 26 totaling $597,916,462 made nationwide by OVC’s State and Territorial Victims of Crime Program. The full list of awards for this program can be found here.
