According to FEMA, the funding will support repairs to the church’s roof, gutters, windows and other building infrastructure.

The approval is part of FEMA’s Public Assistance program, which the agency says helps states, local communities, tribes and territories recover and rebuild safer, more resilient communities while protecting infrastructure from future events.

FEMA said the program reimburses and supports projects that include repairs to critical infrastructure, restoration of public buildings, road repairs, and costs incurred to protect public health and safety after a disaster.

In announcing the award, FEMA also framed the approval as part of President Donald J. Trump’s effort to reform federal disaster support and ensure taxpayer money is spent only on projects the agency says deliver safety and security to the American people.
