“I wrote this play as part of my application to grad school,” Lyons Anthony told The Daily News. “It’s a lot of different, disparate ideas, people meeting, their obsessions, and them interacting with each other.” “JFK” is a collage of Lyons Anthony’s writing — essays, rants, and quotes by writers she respects that forms itself into a play between three characters, each more annoying than the next.
“It’s a drama, with a noir vibe, and it’s absurd,” Lyons Anthony said. “It’s also funny, we had a dance number, it’s only one hour but it’s extremely wordy and dense.” The play explores blurred thresholds, presidential intrigue, hyper visibility, desire and obsession as a woman risks it all to be seen. “The main scenes are about vulnerability, to see and be seen, and some of the danger in that visibility,” Lyons Anthony added.
