Tropical Storm Victor Expected to Become Hurricane by Friday, But System Poses No Threat to Caribbean

Tropical Storm Victor has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, but the storm poses no threat to the Caribbean, and while it is forecast to gain intensity quickly and become a hurricane by Friday, rapid deterioration is expected soon after, according National Hurricane Center forecasters.

According to the N.H.C.'s most recent forecast, the center of Tropical Storm Victor was located near latitude 8.7 North, longitude 27.3 West. Victor is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h). A west-northwest to northwest motion over the eastern tropical Atlantic is expected through the weekend.
