The annual Readers’ Choice Awards, now in their 39th year, reflect the experiences and opinions of travelers around the world, recognizing destinations, hotels, resorts, beaches and other travel experiences that resonate most with the publication’s audience, the V.I. Tourism Department noted in a press release announcing the awards.
“There is no better endorsement than hearing directly from the people who have spent time in our islands,” said Tourism Commissioner Jennifer Matarangas-King. “Our natural beauty may be what first captures someone’s attention, but there is so much more that makes a visit to the Virgin Islands memorable. The warmth of our people, our culture and the character of each island are what turn a vacation into a connection that lasts long after the trip is over.”
The territory’s neighbors, Puerto Rico and the British Virgin Islands, are also featured in the awards lists. The BVI was ranked No. 3 among the top islands in the Caribbean and Atlantic, and Puerto Rico No. 10. Bermuda took the No. 1 spot, followed by St. Lucia.
