Body Found at Magens Bay During Search for Missing 61-Year-Old Man

St. Thomas Rescue teams and cadaver dogs discover a partially decomposed body, suspected to be Kevin Highfield, as authorities await autopsy results to confirm identity

ST. THOMAS — A search operation at Magens Bay for 61-year-old Kevin Highfield led to the discovery of a partially decomposed body on Sunday, according to authorities. The St. Thomas Rescue Team, V.I. Police Department officers, community volunteers, and cadaver dogs brought in from Central Florida were all involved in the search and rescue efforts.

According to the VIPD, at approximately 2:45 p.m., search teams located the body of an unidentified male in a thick brush along one of the trails at Magens Bay Beach. Though the body is suspected to be that of Mr. Highfield, authorities said that the body’s identity remains unknown, and the cause of death is pending further investigation through an autopsy.
