ST. CROIX – The Crucian Cultural Group seeks participants to join this year’s series of events celebrating culture, tradition and the spreading of holiday cheer island-wide.
The event calendar will include a mobile lantern motorcade, night-time parade, tree lighting ceremony and window displays, among others. Committee Chairperson Vivian Fludd told The Daily News that the response was encouraging when the events calendar was released last week. “We tried to release the schedule a bit earlier this year — in October — so that people can plan their events and have time to purchase items to decorate,” she said. “I believe that all of the events are growing each year, but I think the lantern parade and tree lighting brings the biggest draw.”
Now in its sixth year, the events kick off Nov. 16 with a “Cultural Celebration for De World to See” window reveal at Teddy’s Party Rental. The showcase window at the Golden Rock location will feature holiday-inspired décor. Sandra Gerard Leung, committee member, said the group of volunteers is grateful that the community is always welcoming and appreciative of the work they put into the events.
