Dominica’s National Bank gifts Olympic champion Lafond-Gadson EC$150k

Dominica’s Olympic Gold champion triple jumper, Thea Lafond-Gadson continues to receive gifts on her visit to her home country.

Lafond-Gadson made history by becoming the island’s first Olympic medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The star athlete received a cheque of EC$150,200 from the National Bank of Dominica which awarded her $10,000 for every meter of her winning jump. Lafond-Gadson made an impressive jump of 15.02 meters, a national record. The bank organized a special meet-and-greet event to allow staff members to engage with the Olympic champion and celebrate her success.

Carla Roudette, who represented the bank’s managing director at the event remarked: ‘We have admired Thea through her eloquent engagements over the last few weeks and her love for her homeland, Dominica. We are extremely proud of your achievements. Words can’t express the pride we continue to feel.’
