Feds Confiscate Over $700,000 in Cash Aboard Vessel in Gallows Bay

Customs and Border Protection officers found and confiscated over $700,000 of undeclared cash on a vessel in Gallows Bay, St. Croix on Thursday, the Consortium has learned.

The vessel came from Puerto Rico and was en route to the British Virgin Islands but stopped in Gallows Bay to offload cargo bound for St. Croix. Once at the port, CBP officials conducted a routine search of the vessel and found the undeclared cash.

CBP has not issued a release on the matter.

Thursday's findings was not the first of its kind in the territory. In August 2020, CBP officers seized undeclared currency totaling $27 million found inside boxes bound to St. Thomas on Norma H.
