PASEA ESTATE, Tortola, VI- After several late withdrawals from the Carey Olsen Tortola Classic 2023, opportunities opened for 9 local players to enter the draw and test themselves against some of the best squash players in the world at the Tortola Sports Club in Pasea Estate on June 13, 2023.
7 of the matches last night were considered VI vs The Rest of The World.
According to a press release from the BVI Squash Racket Association today, June 14, 2023, the VI players gave it their all and put in some strong performances however they were unable to beat any of their Professional counterparts.
15-year-old Danny Henderson battled seasoned Mexican opponent
The Association said special mention must go to Danny Henderson who at the young age of 15 years old managed to take the first game against his Mexican opponent, Armando Olguin, who’s ranked 378 in the world.
At 1-1 Henderson also held game ball in the 3rd but narrowly lost out 15-13. The final score was 7-11, 11-2, 15-13, 11-4 in favour of Armando Olguin. “Overall it was a very encouraging performance from Danny and one which will hopefully provide him with confidence moving forwards,” the Association stated.

Another highlight of the night was getting to watch young Mohamad Zakaria of Eqypt, who played against Dion Anselm of the Virgin Islands.
