Parsons snubs parliamentarians for absence at King’s parade
Former legislator and BVI cultural icon, Eileene Parsons recently used a sports programme on local radio to express dissatisfaction that a number of the territory’s elected are absent from official functions and events.
Parsons said she found it particularly deplorable that many members of the House of Assembly were absent at the King’s official birthday activities, which took place on June 14. Speaking on ZBVI Radio over the weekend, Parsons expressed her displeasure for the members’ absence despite it being their official duty to be present.
“There was a King’s Birthday reception and the King’s Day Parade, so many members of the House were absent. I wonder if they know this is part of their job requirement,” she argued.
