Previously settled Anegada Crown Land matters to be honoured soon- Hon Fraser

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Deputy Premier and Minister for Environment, Natural Resources, and Climate Change, Hon Julian Fraser, RA (R3), has informed residents of Anegada that land matters settled with the Anegada Land Committee will soon be honoured.

Hon Fraser revealed this on The Virgin Islands Voice on July 9, 2025, where he said, “As far as the Crown Lands, we have gotten to the point now where everything is basically now before the Cabinet to decide on the committee.”

In February 2025, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change published a bulletin seeking applications for the position of Member of the Crown Lands Advisory Board as established under the Crown Lands Management Act, 2024.

The bill was passed by members of the House of Assembly on Monday, June 17, 2024, after spending three weeks in Committee.

Governor Daniel Pruce assented to the Crown Lands Management Act, 2024 on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

The Act sets out the criteria and processes for the disposal and leasing of Crown Lands. This will help ensure decisions are subject to an open and transparent process.

The Crown Lands Management Act also fulfils the Commission of Inquiry (CoI) recommendation (B30), responding to the Review on Crown Lands published in January 2023.
