Report reveals Caribbean countries with highest US university enrollment

A recent report by the US Homeland Security’s Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) has revealed the top five Caribbean countries with the highest number of students in American universities.

Leading Caribbean Countries

Jamaica led the Caribbean countries with the highest number of students in US universities, reaching 5,042 in 2023, up from 4,492 in 2022. The Bahamas followed with 4,751 students, an increase from 4,510 in 2022. Trinidad and Tobago had 1,977 students, up from 1,800 in 2022. Haiti was an exception, with a decrease to 1,240 students from 1,377 in 2022. Dominica saw a slight increase to 631 students from 628 in 2022, and Guyana had 550 students, up from 494 in 2022.

Grenada experienced the highest percentage increase, with a 15.9% rise, totaling 263 students in 2023, which is 36 more than in 2022.

According to the report, the most popular program of study for international students was Computer Science, with 108,438 enrollments. The top ten programs were:
