Gov. Albert Bryan Jr. has proclaimed Jan. 19-25 as “Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Week” in the Virgin Islands to recognize the contributions of the St. Croix Alumnae Chapter.
In his proclamation, dated Dec. 31, 2024, Bryan wrote that “since its chartering, St. Croix Alumnae chapter has made numerous contributions to the St. Croix community. These contributions include the Sickle Cell Parent Support Group, the American Red Cross, the American Cancer Society, St. George’s Village Botanical Gardens, the Deaf Coalition of St. Croix, the Luis Hospital and Medical Center Pediatric Unit, Virgin Islands Community AIDS Resource and Education Inc., Virgin Islands Police Department, the Joseph James Senior Center, ARCH Institute, Law Enforcement Planning Commission, and the Women’s Coalition of St. Croix.”
The sorority, which will celebrate its 50th charter anniversary on Saturday with a gala-fundraiser, “has served the St. Croix community with devotion and immeasurable commitment and will continue to fulfill its mission of sisterhood, scholarship, service and social action,” as such, Bryan wrote, he was proclaiming “Sunday January 19, 2025 to Saturday, January 25, 2025 as ‘Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Week.’ Let us recognize this sorority for the valuable contributions that it has made in the community.”
