ST. CROIX — What could be better than an alumni class spending quality time together? How about alumni from all Classes of the 80s comprising public, private and parochial schools hosting fun initiatives benefiting the wider community.
That’s the aim of the nonprofit, St. Croix Classes of the 1980s, Inc., which on Monday held its annual Labor Day Beach Bash at Cramer Park. The park came alive with laughter and camaraderie from the hundreds of alumni attending the event, and who were entertained by two dee-jays, a live band, and free food and drink provided by members of the class.
This year was particularly special as it marked 15 years since the organization’s founding, a milestone that was celebrated with great enthusiasm and pride by alumni from across the island.
The Labor Day Beach Bash tradition began in 2007, when the St. Croix Central High School’s Class of 1987 organized a beach party to commemorate its 20th anniversary, and extended invitations to the classes of 1986 and 1988. This sparked an overwhelming desire to reconnect with fellow alumni, according to a statement from the St. Croix Classes of the 1980s, Inc.
