STRC holiday concert set for Sunday

ST. THOMAS — The St. Thomas Reformed Church is staging its annual Christmas concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at the sanctuary at the corner of Nye Gade and Crystal Gade in downtown Charlotte Amalie.

The musical production — “What Shall We Give Him?” — is being orchestrated by acclaimed musician Gylchris Sprauve and includes several other local and regional performers: Elizabeth Rodríguez, soprano; Robert Chalwell, tenor; Desarie Maynard, vocalist; Micah McCants, cellist; and Eljhaie Brathwaite, steel pannist.

Sprauve, a Virgin Islands native, has inspired audiences with his warm, burnished dramatic tenor voice during a prolific musical career spanning over two decades, according to a STRC news release. After completing his studies at the University of Iowa, the University of Maryland and the Hochschule Mozarteum Sommerakademie in Austria, Sprauve embarked upon a singing career that would lead him to numerous venues worldwide, including Brazil, Argentina, Honduras, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia, the news release added.
