Three USVI volleyball teams wrap up play at AAU Jr. Nationals

Three club volleyball teams from the U.S. Virgin Islands wrapped up play over the weekend at the 51st AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships in Florida.

St. Thomas’ Island Mixx Volleyball Club and St. Croix’s Positive Guidance VI both had teams playing in matches in the Junior Nationals, being held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. • Island Mixx’s 18-under girls team finished 1-10 in tournament play in the 18 Classic division, which held its matches June 17-20.

Island Mixx 18s only win came on June 18, beating Empower 18U Firestorm 21-25, 25-23, 17-15 in their first match of the day. Their losses came against Prime Time 18 White (25-17, 25-15), FIVA 18U (25-6, 25-8) and Venom VBC 18-1 (25-12, 25-22) on June 17; Empowered 17/18 Elite Red (25-8, 25-15), Adrenaline USA 18 Spartan (20-25, 25-18, 15-13) and Tainas VC 18 Adidas (25-22, 21-25, 15-5) on June 18; Excel 18 White (25-23, 25-10), Legacy 18 Premier Ramon (25-15, 20-25, 15-8) and WPVC 18 Elite Black (25-11, 25-18) on June 19; and Empower 18U Firestorm (26-24, 25-13) on June 20.
