VIPD Investigates Vehicle Theft at Discount Car Rental in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department is calling on the public for assistance in a vehicle theft investigation at Discount Car Rental in St. Thomas. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, February 28 around 10:40 p.m., saw law enforcement officers responding promptly to reports of vehicle thefts in progress.

Thanks to the swift action of the responding officers, the theft operation was interrupted, preventing the loss of additional vehicles. However, the thieves managed to flee with one Jeep Wrangler. The VIPD successfully recovered the stolen vehicle at the Nisky intersection after deciding to halt all traffic in the vicinity. The suspect abandoned the Jeep and escaped on foot.

The individuals involved in this theft are reported to have been armed and are considered dangerous. This adds a layer of urgency and complexity to the VIPD's ongoing investigation.
