2 charged for April 2023 murder of Kemo Lettsome

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Officers of the Major Incident Team within the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) on April 24, 2024, arrested and charged two persons in connection with the April 30, 2023, murder of Kemo Lettsome at Long Look, Tortola.

Charged are 32-year-old Vernon Bernard of Manuel Reef and 28-year-old Jelani Marquis of Hannah’s Estate.

According to the RVIPF, in a press release late April 24, 2024, this arrest comes following an intensive investigation that spanned close to one year.

It said on the date of the incident, Lettsome, along with other persons, was present at a family gathering when he was fatally shot. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The RVIPF said the charging of both Bernard and Marquis represents a significant breakthrough in this case, providing hope for closure and healing to the family and wider community affected by this tragic event.
