Curacao becomes associate member of Caribbean Community

WILLEMSTAD — The Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao on Sunday became the newest associate member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

CARICOM is a political alliance promoting economic integration and cooperation across a region of largely small island developing states. Curacao joined the group during a ceremony at the opening of the organization’s heads of government summit in Grenada, where leaders are set to discuss issues such as the growing impact of climate change.
