Disability Rights Center Hosts Open House

The Disability Rights Center of the Virgin Islands hosted scores of guests at an open house last week.

In addition to representatives from a number of governmental agencies, community members attended and interacted with the DRCVI’s members and other advocate agencies to learn about support services available to them.

Under the theme “Building Bridges: Connecting Resources, Empowering Lives,” the Disability Rights Center provided ways for individuals with disabilities, families, caregivers, and stakeholders to address the needs of the disability community and shared resources to promote empowerment and independence.

Resources included attendees from Island Therapy Solutions, Frederiksted Health Care, Inc., the University of the Virgin Islands, the V.I. Health Department, V.I. Education, V.I. Human Services, V.I. Labor, the YAG Foundation, Our Town Frederiksted, Rotary Club, Lutheran Social Services of the V.I., and the Veteran Administration’s Center.
