Endless chatter! Mitch slams ’no plan’ Premier

Second District Representative Melvin ‘Mitch’ Turnbull has accused Premier Dr Natalio Wheatley of being all talk and insists that the Premier has no concrete plans to support his rhetoric.

Turnbull’s comments were made during a press conference hosted by the Opposition, in which he criticised the current state of governance in the territory, labelling the government as reactive rather than proactive. “There is no plan for this territory,” Turnbull declared, expressing frustration over what he described as the Premier’s failure to provide a clear vision for various sectors of the economy. Turnbull said repeated requests for detailed tourism, infrastructure, education, and healthcare plans have gone unanswered. He pointed out that the Premier has consistently failed to act until pressured by the Opposition.

“If you don’t have a plan, you cannot execute and that’s where the mismanagement continues to come in,” Turnbull added. One of Turnbull’s major points of contention was the lack of an economic plan. “This government has not had a plan for anything about this country’s benefits since 2019,” he remarked. Turnbull also highlighted the Premier’s recent mishandling of a public sector salary increase, which resulted in a $20 million miscalculation. The error, Turnbull noted, places a significant burden on the government’s resources and is just one example of financial mismanagement under the current administration.
