Family, coworkers mourn slain WAPA lineman

Employees of the V.I. Water and Power Authority are mourning lineman Michael Edwards Jr. and offering support to his parents, who are both also WAPA employees.

“The Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority extends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Michael Edwards, Jr., who began on November 2022 as a Lineman Apprentice I at the Authority, whose life was tragically cut short by gun violence on St. Croix over the weekend. Michael’s untimely passing is felt profoundly by so many of us,” WAPA spokeswoman Shanell Petersen wrote in a statement issued Tuesday.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who knew and loved Michael. We stand with his family in mourning this loss and offer our support during this incredibly difficult time,” Petersen wrote.
