Fishing License Moratorium Lifted by DPNR

The V.I. Dept. of Planning and Natural Resources on Thursday announced that the moratorium on the issuance of new commercial fishing permits in the territory will end on Thursday, September 30. Applications, limited by district for entry to the commercial fishery will start being accepted at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, October 1, D.P.N.R. said.

“DPNR is excited about lifting the moratorium and creating more economic opportunities in this industry throughout the Territory,” said D.P.N.R. Commissioner Jean-Pierre L. Oriol. “I’d like to also thank the Fisheries Advisory Committees in both districts for their hard work and support with this initiative."
