JUST IN: President Tinubu addresses Saint Lucia parliament

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening ties with Caribbean nations during an address to a joint session of the Senate and House of Assembly of Saint Lucia.

Fredrick Nwabufo, senior special assistant to the president on public engagement, disclosed this in a post on X.

According to Nwabufo, Tinubu said Nigeria “remains committed to strengthening the enduring bonds that unite our regions”.

The president also reiterated Nigeria’s historic stance on Pan-Africanism, stating that “we have long stood for the dignity and advancement of the black race”.

Emphasizing the need for unity among the black race, Tinubu quoted Jamaican political activist Marcus Garvey: “Get organized, and you will compel the world to respect you.”

Tinubu’s visit to the Caribbean nation forms part of his efforts to bolster diplomatic and cultural ties with countries of shared heritage.
