Kyron A. McMaster ‘has made the nation proud’- Premier Wheatley - said VI looking forward to celebrate & reward the World Championships silver medalist

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has congratulated Kyron A. McMaster for his historic feat at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

McMaster, the reigning Commonwealth Games Champion, captured a silver medal in the final of the Men’s 400m Hurdles, on August 23, 2023, beating the 2nd and 3rd fastest men ever in that event along his way to the podium finish.

It is the first-ever medal for the VI at the World Championships.

“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate Mr Kyron McMaster who has made the nation proud by delivering to us our greatest sporting accomplishment in the history of the Virgin Islands,” Premier Wheatley stated at a press conference regarding the just concluded 2023 Virgin Islands Emancipation today, August 24, 2023.
