Man struck and killed by train in Pompano Beach

A Brightline train struck and killed a man who was walking along the railroad tracks in Pompano Beach Monday night, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

Steve Collier, 62, was hit around 6:30 p.m. in the area of 300 South Dixie Highway in Broward County, according to the BSO. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue paramedics declared Collier dead.

The sheriff’s office has not released the man’s identity. BSO detectives are investigating the incident.

An investigation by the Miami Herald and WLRN showed that Brightline is the deadliest passenger railroad in the United States.
