More Than 100 Rounds Fired in Early-Morning Shooting That Left Two Hospitalized

ST. CROIX — An early-morning burst of heavy gunfire in Peter’s Rest on Sunday sent police to the scene and left two people hospitalized with gunshot wounds, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department, which said the shooting remains under investigation.  Information provided by VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte states that on Sunday, the 911 Emergency Call Center received a ShotSpotter notification indicating that well over 100 rounds had been fired in the Peter’s Rest area, near Carlos Bar in Christiansted, at approximately 4:50 a.m.

According to police, residents in the area also placed multiple calls reporting what was described as an enormous amount of gunfire being discharged.  A short time later, personnel at Juan F.
