Ortiz González to resign as PDP president

In an emotional and grateful message, Jesús Manuel Ortiz González on Monday announced his resignation as president of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP).

The announcement was made through a video posted on social media, where Ortiz González detailed the challenges he faced as president, highlighted the achievements during his 20 months at the head of the party, reiterated his commitment to the future of the PDP and outlined his recommendations for strengthening the institution.

“As you know, my term in the presidency ends in November 2026. That is why the Popular Party elected me,” the former candidate for governor said during his message. “However, I am not one of those who clings to a position with selfishness. I am and will always be a player who fights for the success of the team before individual titles. That is why, in order for the much-needed renewal that I began to continue, and for the work that I started and that the party urgently needs to be done without distractions and without the agendas of some that we already know affecting that work, I step aside with the detachment and equanimity that has characterized me all my life. Today I announce my resignation from the presidency of our party, effective on the day we select the next president.”
