ST. THOMAS — V.I. Police are investigating after Public Works Department employees discovered a grave that had been desecrated in the Eastern Cemetery in Smith Bay.

The case began Tuesday morning, when a cemetery worker discovered that “someone had broken into the tomb of a deceased male Mr. Kalik Aaron,” according to information from police. Public Works called 911, and police also made contact with the family of the deceased.

According to information from V.I. Police, the cemetery worker was in the area of the tomb just before 4 p.m. Monday afternoon and stated that it was still undisturbed. The responding officer also learned that a woman claiming to be the girlfriend of the deceased asked a cemetery worker “where is Dus Man grave,” and the individual showed her the location.
