Search continues for missing person in boat accident

FRENCHMAN’S CAY, VI- The search is continuing for the female who has been missing since last evening, Sunday, October 2, 2022, following a tragic boat accident near Little Thatch.

The lone powerboat accident resulted in the death of a 6-year-old child and several others nursing injuries.

According to the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) today, October 3, 2022, initial investigations indicate that while crossing the waters between Jost van Dyke and West End around 7:00 pm last night, a vessel over 30’ in length overturned near Little Thatch causing all the occupants to be thrown overboard.

Of the ten occupants onboard, seven were taken to Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital.

“One of the seven, a six-year-old female, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Five are still being treated; one was discharged,” Police stated.

2-year-old boy pulled from water & resuscitated

Our newsroom was told that a 2-year-old boy was found facedown in the water but was recovered and resuscitated.

He is said to be recovering well.
