St Lucia Kings dominate Knight Riders, extend lead atop CPL

TAROUBA, Trinidad – Openers Johnson Charles and Faf du Plessis produced a stunning batting display to help the St Lucia Kings secure a commanding 80-run victory over the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Tuesday.

Their scintillating opening partnership of 145 runs laid the foundation for the Kings’ massive total of 218 for six at the Brian Lara Stadium. The Knight Riders, in response, crumbled under the pressure, being bowled out for 138 in 17.5 overs. This victory pushed the Kings to their seventh win in nine matches, extending their lead at the top of the CPL standings by four points over second-placed Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Charles was the chief destroyer, blasting 89 from 40 balls, while du Plessis played the perfect supporting role with 59 off 43 deliveries. The duo set the tone from the start, taking the Knight Riders’ bowlers to task, particularly pacer Jayden Seales, who was hit for three boundaries in the very first over.
