Tropical Wave to Bring Thunderstorms and Choppy Seas Overnight to Eastern Puerto Rico and the USVI

A tropical wave is forecast to bring increased showers, thunderstorms, and choppy seas overnight across eastern Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with breezy conditions expected to continue into early next week. Residents are urged to stay alert.

A vigorous tropical wave is approaching the region and is expected to bring increased shower and thunderstorm activity overnight, particularly over eastern Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, according to the National Weather Service in San Juan.

In addition to the uptick in rainfall and thunderstorms, breezy to locally windy conditions are expected to continue, resulting in choppy seas across regional waters. These marine conditions may persist through early next week, affecting both recreational boating and small-vessel operations.

“Do not forget your umbrella!” and urged both residents and visitors to monitor weather conditions closely as the night progresses, NWS advised. NSW issued the update on Saturday at 7:43 p.m.
