UVI says provost to work with NSF, announces several new staff appointments

University of the Virgin Islands President Safiya George announced several staff appointments and leadership changes including the appointment of a university provost to the National Science Foundation’s STEM Education program.

George, in one of several statements released Monday, announced that Camille McKayle, who has served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs for the last 12 years, has been named deputy division director for the Division of Equity for Excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Education at the NSF.

The position is effective later this month, and McKayle will leave her position as provost to begin the post at the NSF, according to the released statement. “This high-profile appointment will allow Dr. McKayle to remain at UVI while contributing to defining the nation’s STEM agenda and sharing valuable insights with the University,” George said.
