V.I. National Park seeks redeveloper for former Caneel Bay Resort

The V.I. National Park is seeking qualifications for parties interested in redeveloping overnight accommodations at the former Caneel Bay Resort.

On Tuesday, the National Park Service released a Request for Qualifications, commonly referred to as an RFQ, for the Caneel Bay Lodging Zone leasing opportunity at the V.I. National Park. “Caneel Bay overnight accommodations provide a unique publicly offered lease opportunity with stunning ocean views along the north shore coastal landscape,” V.I. National Park Superintendent Penelope Del Bene said in a press release. “The cultural and natural resources of the area are significantly important to the local communities.”

The RFQ is the prequalifying phase before Requests for Proposals, or RFP, can be accepted by the National Park Service and is part of the phased reopening of the Caneel Bay property outlined by the Finding of No Significant Impacts, known as FONSI, that the V.I. National Park has been implementing since the V.I. District Court issued their decision of ownership of Caneel Bay Resort land in April 2024.
