VIPD Arrests Man for Firearm Possession During St. Thomas Operation

ST. THOMAS — The V.I. Police Department's Special Operations Bureau conducted a targeted operation in the Hospital Ground area, leading to the arrest of 34-year-old Jelani Walters for constructive possession of a firearm on April 6.

During the operation, which took place at approximately 4:36 p.m., officers encountered Walters in possession of a Ruger 9mm handgun. The inspection was part of the VIPD's ongoing efforts to enhance community safety and curb illegal firearms, the VIPD said.

Following his arrest, Walters faced charges of constructive possession of a firearm and resisting arrest. His bail was set at $50,000, and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections after failing to post bond.
