Trump Targets Harvard, Backtracks on Tariffs and More

All is quiet in Washington, D.C., today, as President Donald Trump’s public schedule is empty and both chambers of Congress are out on recess.

But Trump’s weekend was anything but quiet. On Saturday, he gave a rambling commencement address at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point that included a riff about “trophy wives.” On Sunday, he backtracked once again on promised tariffs for the European Union. And on Monday, he delivered a 172-word all caps Memorial Day tribute to everyone, including “THE SCUM THAT SPENT THE LAST FOUR YEARS TRYING TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY …”

Despite that busy schedule, he still had time to escalate his attacks on Harvard University and call Russian President Vladimir Putin – whom he’s historically been fond of praising – “CRAZY.”

Harvard Battle Heats Up

The Trump administration plans to cancel the federal government’s remaining contracts with Harvard University – which are worth an estimated $100 million – according to a letter it sent to federal agencies this morning. Trump spent the weekend targeting Harvard on social media, accusing the school of “judge shopping” in its ongoing legal battle with the White House, threatening to redirect $3 billion of its federal grants to trade schools and demanding a list of its foreign students. The tirade came after a judge halted the Trump administration’s attempt to revoke Harvard’s ability to enroll international students on Friday.
