The University of the Virgin Islands is set to host its popular annual fundraiser, "Afternoon on the Green," on the scenic Herman E. Moore Golf Course in St. Thomas.
Scheduled for Sunday, March 17 from noon to 5:00 p.m., this year's event promises a "Fusion of Flavors to Savor and Explore," inviting the island's culinary talents to contribute their best dishes for a noble cause. The fundraiser benefits the Edward Thomas Volunteer Scholarship Fund, dedicated to supporting local students committed to community service.
Dr. Kyza A. Callwood, chair of the event planning committee, expressed enthusiasm for the community's involvement. "Afternoon on the Green is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to get involved in improving the lives of students. We greatly appreciate the generosity of sponsors, volunteers, cooks, and many community members who help make the event a huge success," he stated.
The beneficiary scholarship fund honors the legacy of Edward Thomas, Sr., a respected local businessman and Chair of the UVI Research & Technology Park Board. Annually, the fund awards scholarships to attend UVI to two deserving St. Thomas high school seniors.
