Former Home Depot Employee Faces Charges for Embezzlement in St. Thomas

ST. THOMAS — V.I. Police Department offices on Thursday arrested Makea Grant, 26, and charged here with embezzlement and grand larceny, following an investigation led by the Economic Crime Unit. The arrest stems from allegations made by Home Depot, where Grant was previously employed.

The investigation began on January 26, 2024, after Home Depot filed a complaint alleging that Grant had facilitated the theft of merchandise by allowing numerous individuals to leave the store without paying for items. The total value of the unpaid merchandise surpassed four thousand dollars, prompting legal action against the former employee.
