Men killed in Huntums Ghut identified as Alix M. Hernandez & Amancio V. Ramirez

HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- Detectives of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are urgently seeking witnesses or any information in relation to the double murder which occurred just after midnight on Friday, May 17, 2024.

Preliminary investigations reveal that both victims were outside a popular bar in the Huntums Ghut area when they were fatally shot. The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown. According to the RVIPF, the deceased have been identified as Hispanic nationals 44-year-old Alix Montero Hernandez, a barber who resided in Fahie Hill, and 33-year-old Amancio Vasquez Ramirez, who resided in Sea Cows Bay.

Detectives are said to be actively investigating the incident. The RVIPF has said it will increase its presence in the community with heightened patrols and that residents can expect to see more officers conducting house-to-house visits as part of the Force's commitment to ensuring public safety. 

Governor visits crime scene

Governor Daniel Pruce visited the crime scene and commented, "This is terrible news. My thoughts are with the loved ones of the victims. I’m grateful to the RVIPF for their quick response, and I ask anyone with any information to contact the police as they take forward their investigation."
