St. Croix Cyclists Left with Broken Backs and Brain Hemorrhage in Hit and Run Incident

ST. CROIX — A hit and run accident involving two cyclists occurred around 6:47 a.m. Sunday near Straker Motors on North Shore Road, according to the V.I. Police Department. The incident left two individuals badly injured, and the driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after striking the victims.

Both cyclists, one male and one female, sustained major injuries due to the accident. The male victim suffered a broken neck and back, while the female victim received a broken back and life-threatening head injuries, including brain hemorrhaging.

For further medical treatment, both victims were flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida. The Traffic Investigation Bureau is actively investigating the accident, the VIPD made known.

An All-points bulletin has been issued to locate a dark green 2007 Honda CRV-Lx with the license plate number CHK426. Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to contact the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau at 340-778-2211, 340-227-0184, Crime Stoppers USVI here, or 911.
